Drawing Dialogue

Location: Arnhem (2021)

Collaboration: iMAE, Artez

This activity is about creating together while having the freedom to talk about whatever comes up. I would ask questions about how the person has been and what made them happy. I would also ask about if there were any hard moments. We would talk about the weather and about losing a loved one. Drawing takes the pressure of the conversation and can enhance the feeling of being in control. It takes the spotlight of the participant and gives them something to dive into. While having the option of opening up about whatever is alive within the participant.

This is normally done with an individual in a relaxed setting. The picture is from when I showed this methodology publicly. This way of working can also be done between two participants; it will challenge them to work together and they will get to know each other in a different way. (The balance between control and letting go is present.)
