Performance Pressure

Location: Zwolle (2021)

Collaboration: Windesheim & Artez

Roos Adams and I worked with a group of business students. Our goal was to find common ground between art and business. We focused on showing the use of art based research. The topic we all could relate to was performance pressure. We worked closely with the students to form a bond and ended up doing a public intervention in the canteen where the students would throw paint and ask fellow students and teachers to join them. It was about creating a moment of release and have fun. But also to connect people with each other and talk about performance pressure, since it affects everyone but we barely speak of it.

By engaging with the artistic process the participants learned how to extract information out of multiple sources. Through conversation, practical experimentation, social interaction, visual language, observation and understanding one’s own role in the process, they learned that art based research can lead to unexpected and innovative outcomes.
